Equalities and Diversity Action Plan
CILIP has committed to creating, implementing, monitoring and improving an Equalities and Diversity Action Plan with the aim of becoming an organisation that truly represents and achieves diversity and celebrates and encourages it in others. The Equalities and Diversity Action Plan was launched on July 31st 2017.
The Action Plan sets out our actions in five areas:
- CILIP as an organisation
- Diversity & the membership
- Diversity & the profession
- Celebrating diversity
- Diverse and inclusive library & information services

Declaration from CILIP’s Board and Presidential Team
The Equalities and Diversity Action Plan is accompanied by a Declaration from CILIP’s Board and Presidential Team stating their commitment to equalities, diversity and inclusion within CILIP itself and the profession more broadly, and to achieving the aims set out in the Action Plan.
Community, Diversity and Equality Group
The Community, Diversity and Equality Group (CDEG), a CILIP Special Interest Group, works towards development of a diverse library and information workforce; one that supports communities to achieve sustainable needs-based services.
