Everyone with an interest in the library, information and knowledge professions is welcome to join CILIP. You can join online, or complete the membership application form and take the next step in your career.

    Join by post

    To join simply complete the membership application form and return it to us by email or post with payment. Members can pay by Direct Debit in one or ten instalments.

    Student membership

    Available to students who are studying full or part-time on library, information science and knowledge management courses. Student membership is also available to those embarked on graduate trainee schemes.

    Student membership will give people at the start of their careers more support and opportunities for professional and personal development.

    CILIP and the Federation of Health and Care Informatics Professionals (Fed-IP)

    If you work in the health and care sector as a librarian, information or knowledge specialist, there is a good chance you will be playing a role in informatics. CILIP is a partner body in Fed-IP, the registration body responsible for improving services through health and care informatics, by bringing together professionals from a variety of sub-specialities and developing standards.     How much does membership cost?

    Pick your subscription rate depending on your annual salary. Pay by Direct Debit and split your subscription into ten installments. If you are a UK taxpayer you may be able to claim back tax on your subscription,

    Reinstating your membership

    Please note that if you are not currently a member and have been awarded a level of Professional Registration, you are not able to use any post-nominals (ACLIP, MCLIP or FCLIP). Should you decide to rejoin, then you will be required to complete the revalidation process before you will have your post-nominals reinstated to you.
